Abstract
Red chili, a popular fruit vegetable plant among Indonesians, is widely cultivated in the country's agricultural sector due to its high market demand. However, one of the challenges in growing chili plants is the lengthy time it takes for them to harvest. The objective of this study was to investigate the impact of hydropriming treatment (soaking in water) on the growth and development of red chili plants (Capsicum annuum L.). This research was carried out at the Agrotechnology Study Program Laboratory, Faculty of Plant and Animal Sciences, Universitas Bina Insan. This research was designed as a completely randomized design (CRD) with one factor, namely no immersion (P0), immersion in normal temperature water for 30 minutes (P1), and immersion in warm water for 30 minutes (P2). The results revealed that the hydropriming method had a significant effect on plant height (cm) and number of leaves (strands) of chili plants at the age of 4 weeks after transplanting. Notably, the treatment involving soaking in warm water for 30 minutes resulted in the highest plant height (20.64 cm) and the greatest number of leaves (21.2 pieces) on average.
